Board of Directors

Rachel Tiller

SCA Founder; Non-Voting Member

Rachel has a unique background in education and homeschooling. Since she was a teen, her desire has been to start a school or orphanage in another country, so she felt led to become a Christian teacher. In the fall of 2020, Rachel started a first-grade Christian pod with Lake Travis ISD students. Soon after, Rachel began to realize it was possible to start a school in her local community. She began laying the foundation for that school, and in the summer of 2021, Spicewood Christian Academy was born. Rachel is married to Brandon Tiller, and they have three children– Titus, Levi and Hannah.

Dr. David Berry, M.D.

Board President

Dr. Berry is a Spicewood neighbor, father of four daughters and step-father of three sons. He has served as President of the SCA Board for over two years. Professionally, Dr. Berry is a specialist in maternal-fetal medicine, a branch of obstetrics that manages and treats complicated and high-risk pregnancies. He is a native Texan and moved to Austin in 1978. He graduated from the University of Texas followed by his medical training in Galveston, Ft. Worth and Houston. He is the founder of Austin Perinatal Associates in 1997 and has served the women of central Texas with complex pregnancies since that time.

 Marco Broccardo

Vice President

Originally from South Africa, Marco is the founder and Lead Pastor at Hope Rock Church. He and his wife, Catherine, have three children, two of which attend Spicewood Christian Academy. In 1999, Marco was in the grips of addiction, but after giving his life to Jesus in a faith-based treatment center, he was delivered and set free. He says, “The Word teaches us in Romans 8:28 that all things work for our good, and this verse has been so real to me. If I wasn’t an addict, I am not sure I would have ever found Jesus or at least needed Him as desperately as I did.”

Fun Fact: In 2013, Marco was part of a three-man expedition that broke a world record. They were the first men to cross the Empty Quarter (1210km desert in the Arabian Peninsula) unassisted and on foot. The arduous trek took 40 days and 40 nights.
